  1. The following report is from a new UFONet file and as I can't recall it
  2. having appeared on ParaNet, it is appended for your enjoyment. :)

  4.                  FIVE WITNESSES OBSERVE STRANGE OBJECT
  5.  
  6. The following is my report of an investigation conducted by Norma J.
  7. Croda of Indianapolis.
  8.  
  9.         Friday, September 9, 1994, 8:30pm. Racoon Lake, Parke County, IN
  10. (to the left of Indianapolis). Five witnesses observed a strange "parent
  11. object" approximately 8 miles west of Rt.231 on Rt.36.
  12.  
  13.         Eyelyn Easson received a call from Steve Buchanan telling her
  14. that beach-ball sized lime green balls of light had come out of the
  15. woods over near his employer's house (Dave) at about 8:30 PM.
  16.  
  17.         Mrs. Easson: "Steve and Linda had seen the same lights on
  18. February 4th. My husband and I went to pick up Steve to go to Dave's
  19. and, just as I pulled into Buchanan's lane (about 9:20 PM) I noticed a
  20. strange light in the sky. Steve, Bill and I watched for about five
  21. minutes and Linda came out and watched with us. The object moved in a
  22. zig-zagged way a short distance. When we had been watching 15 minutes,
  23. Steve called Dave (who had been watching from his home and had made the
  24. initial sighting) and he came over and watched with us. Suddenly a white
  25. speck of light zoomed over us to our right going east to west and
  26. hovered over the object. A light came up and (it) took it in. Then a
  27. second speck of light flew east to west over us, but to the left of us
  28. and went into the rounded edge of the object. About a half hour later
  29. the object spun around, green light now at top, red light at bottom. A
  30. speck of light came out of the right side as the object had spun around,
  31. and another from the bottom, It then zig-zagged to the right a short
  32. distance and the specks each flew back west. The object flared when we
  33. shined a spotlight at it. Other times (it) flared as well. Back light
  34. blinked a couple of times."
  35.  
  36.         Bill Easson reported that his vision was not sharp enough to see
  37. the detail his wife had reported and drawn. He just saw a bright light
  38. several times brighter than any star, which exhibited several colors.
  39. The object had hovered for over two hours, but distinctly moved twice,
  40. once to the right, then once to the left.
  41.  
  42.         The object did not "leave", but the Earth's rotation took it
  43. below the horizon. In sight approximately two and a half hours. Venus
  44. was in the southwest, nowhere in the vicinity of the strange object.
  45. During the next few nights the witnesses looked in the same area but
  46. never saw the strange object.

  62.         We hesitate labeling objects beyond the close encounter range,
  63. not necessarily because of the distance, but due to the usual
  64. lack of detail for identification purposes. However, in this case we
  65. don't have to worry about a witness with poor vision or a witness who
  66. stretched the facts or one who simply couldn't figure out what he/she was
  67. seeing due to ignorance. There were five adult witnesses, and the FI
  68. feels that these people simply reported what they saw.
  69.  
  70.         The main object, possibly a "parent craft", and smaller objects,
  71. possible other craft or "probes", was observed for two and one-half hours.
  72. The main object moved a couple of times, but mostly hovered. The main
  73. object report passes the Natural Source Test. This was not a star, nor a
  74. planet, Venus was visible at the same time in the SW.
  75.  
  76.         This report also passes the Man-made Source Test for the same
  77. reasons mentioned above. Blimps can hover, but the description and
  78. length of time observed rules this out. Everything has to move to stay
  79. in the air or, in the case of balloons, don't hover that long, nor do
  80. they have lights of this type. Man-made fixed structures were ruled out.
  81. Hoax by witnesses was ruled out.
  82.  
  83.         This report has been given the preliminary identification of
  84. UNKNOWN, Significant, because it was some kind of craft with other
  85. objects coming and going from it, main object observed over a long
  86. period of time. Berliner Strangeness scale: 02 (Night Object), Berliner
  87. Credibility Scale of 02 (Multiple Average Witnesses). Speiser
  88. Probability Scale P4 (Credible and sound).

  90.         Ten days later, on the 19th of September, there were two more
  91. sightings, both on the same day.
  92.  
  93.         A security guard near Evansville reported a strange object,
  94. distant, but that stopped and reversed direction. This occurred at 2:58
  95. AM and lasted about ninety seconds.
  96.  
  97.         Then at Indianapolis the investigating FI who checked out the
  98. Racoon Lake sightings, along with her daughter, observed a strange
  99. object in the same general direction. The object appeared to be only
  100. about a mile away. The event started at 9:00 PM.
  101.  
  102.         Norma Croda had gone outside to talk with some neighbors and
  103. noticed a bright light above a house, which was a half-block to the
  104. west. She saw a very bright red and green lights flashing, went inside
  105. to get binoculars and watched through the upstairs window. When focused
  106. in, the colored lights, red, green, and yellow, appeared in a band
  107. around the centre of the white light. The colored lights seemed to be
  108. rotating. Her daughter, who saw the object for only about ten minutes,
  109. took the binoculars and after 3-5 minutes said it was turning and
  110. moving. The light slowly moved to the NW. they tried to follow it in
  111. their car but lost it. Observation time: 45 minutes.

  113.         The next evening and subsequent evenings there was no similar
  114. object observed therefore this was not an astronomical object. The
  115. length of time observed by a trained observer also eliminates aircraft.
  116. The case is still under investigation.
  117.  
  118.         Then, FIT Roger Sugden filed this preliminary report on Sept
  119. 20th: Approximately September 11th or 18th, near Fort Wayne, 9-10pm,
  120. four or more witnesses (one a state trooper) saw a strange object. Also
  121. reported was an extremely low F-16, little detail at press time. Under
  122. investigation. Mr.Sugden, a trainee, was advised to contact FI's
  123. Engstrom and Taylor.
